Radiohead Announces First Australian Tour in 15 Years

Radiohead will return to Australia to play 16 shows across three cities next year, marking the band’s first tour of the country in 15 years.

On Monday afternoon, the British rock band unveiled the itinerary for its May 2027 tour, which also includes five shows in Japan.

The series of shows will kick off at Perth’s RAC Arena on 3 May for four performances in the city. This will be followed by six shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s Afterpay Arena.

The band last toured Australia after their 2011 album the King of Limbs, although frontman Thom Yorke visited Australia for solo shows in 2024. During a Melbourne performance, Yorke walked off stage after being heckled by a pro-Palestine protester in the crowd. He returned a few minutes later to perform his final song of the evening, Radiohead’s 1997 hit Karma Police.

Last year, Radiohead reunited after seven years for a string of shows in European cities.

The band will also return to Japan for the first time in 19 years with five concerts at the GMO Arena Saitama near Tokyo.

The band has not recorded a studio album since 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool. But the absence of new material has not quelled demand, with a frenzied rush for tickets when the shows were announced.

Radiohead first toured Australia in 1994 after the band’s debut album Pablo Honey, which contained their breakthrough hit Creep.

Fans can register interest for tickets to the Australian shows on an online portal – run by co-promoter Frontier Touring – that opened on Monday evening. It will create a ballot-like process to “help give fans fair access to tickets and minimise automated and unauthorised purchases.”

Tickets are capped at four for each city the band is performing in, the portal said.

“There’s no benefit to registering earlier. Every completed registration received by the deadline will be treated equally,” the website said.

Registration closes on Thursday at 5pm AEST. Successful registrants will be emailed with next steps from Friday and given a chance to buy tickets next week.
