Rai suspends Sigfrido Ranucci for ten days after four disciplinary complaints

Rai has suspended former Report presenter Sigfrido Ranucci for ten days. The company decided on the measure following the evaluation of the results of the analysis of the Rai Code of Ethics Commission. Last September 16, Rai notified a disciplinary complaint to Sigfrido Ranucci, following the outcome of the investigation by the ethics committee. Then the journalist had five days to send his defense statement.

Four disciplinary charges

At the basis of Rai's decision to suspend Ranucci, we learn, there are four disciplinary complaints: about fifty visits by Laura Cianfoni, former CISL trade unionist, to the company headquarters; the contents of the conversation with the M5s parliamentarian Dario Carotenuto; company emails forwarded to Valter Lavitola; the denigration of colleagues, in particular Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi, initially indicated to succeed the journalist at the helm of Report.

The lawyer's response

"Just as the Labor Court of Rome is deciding on Sigfrido Ranucci's precautionary appeal against the measure of removal from Report, Rai communicates to him a new sanction: ten days of suspension from work and pay - underlines the lawyer -. A decision which comes a few days after the presentation of detailed defences, with which the accusations made by Rai have been contested in substance and method. While awaiting the Judge's decision, we are not commenting on the temporal coincidence".
