"It was very difficult" to keep Carlo's cancer a secret. Queen Camilla said this, revealing for the first time the moments of strong concern she experienced when the British sovereign was diagnosed with a tumor of an unspecified nature in January 2024.

The wife of King Charles admitted the difficulty in having to refrain from telling anyone, waiting for the green light to be made for the public announcement, which took place via a statement from Buckingham Palace on 5 February 2024. "I was almost going to say something, but I felt it wasn't the time to talk," the queen said in a seven-minute video filmed for the Maggie's charity for cancer patients and their families, of which Camilla is president.
