Duran Duran enters British philatelic history. Royal Mail has announced a special collection dedicated to the band, featuring stamps, posters, postcards, commemorative sheets and other collectibles. At the center of the initiative will be the covers of eight albums that have marked the group's career, from their debut in 1981 until their comeback in 2021.
The collection, entitled BOLD. VISIONARY. EVER-EVOLVING., will be available in part from 17 September 2026. The material will celebrate over four decades of activity of the band, which has become one of the most recognizable formations of British new wave. “This new collection celebrates one of the UK's most innovative and influential bands,” Royal Mail said, highlighting the presence of iconic covers, exclusive items and limited edition memorabilia.

Albums chosen for the initiative include his 1981 self-titled debut, Rio, Seven and the Ragged Tiger and Notorious. The selection also includes the 1993 album of the same name, known as The Wedding Album, and Future Past, released in 2021.
The project is not limited to stamps. Royal Mail has provided more than thirty items, including philatelic series, posters, presentation packs, postcards and framed sheets. The least expensive product will be a "First Da" envelope, on sale for 30 pence (which is equivalent to approximately €0.35). The complete sheet of first class stamps dedicated to The Wedding Album will have a price of 86.40 pounds (equal to just over 100 euros).

A career that began in the 1980s
With their style, elaborate video clips and a series of international hits, Duran Duran became one of the symbolic bands of the first half of the 1980s. However, the group was able to overcome that season, maintaining a constant presence on the music scene and experiencing a new phase of popularity in more recent years.
In 2026 the band participated in important live events, including the BTS Hyde Park festival, where they headlined on July 5th. He also completed a residency in Las Vegas, before performing at arenas and festivals in North America and continental Europe.
In the same period, the collaboration with Nile Rodgers, Free to Love, also arrived, a further chapter in a career built through musical contaminations and a continuous ability to renew himself.

Royal Mail recognition
Duran Duran join a select group of artists celebrated by Royal Mail with special releases. Before them, the initiative had also involved AC/DC, The Who and Spice Girls.
For Simon Le Bon, frontman of the band, the collection represents a particularly significant recognition. Interviewed by the BBC, the singer defined it as a "massive visual validation" of the group's history and identity.
Throughout their career, Duran Duran have received numerous awards and recognitions: a Brit Award for lifetime achievement, two Ivor Novellos, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, two Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. In 2024 Simon Le Bon was also appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire by King Charles III for his services to music and charity.
The new philatelic collection therefore celebrates not only some covers that have become symbols of the Eighties, but the entire journey of a band capable of spanning generations, fashions and transformations of the music industry.
