Putin's conversation with Trump: discussion of the negotiators' visit and the prospects for ending the conflict

Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said that Tuesday's conversation concerned, among other things, the results of the weekend visit of American peace negotiators in Moscow and Kiev.

He said both leaders assessed its results as "positive". Putin also allegedly presented to Trump his vision of actions the US could take to support an end to the conflict.

According to Ushakov, the Russian president presented his assessment of the situation on the front to the American leader. He was also supposed to ensure that Russia had no hostile plans towards European countries.

Donald Trump clearly emphasized the need to end the conflict as quickly as possible, which would immediately open up impressive and far-reaching prospects for the full restoration of relations between the US and Russia, Ushakov said.

Putin and Trump also reportedly agreed on the need for further prisoner exchanges. Ushakov did not provide other details of the conversation, but described it as constructive.

The leaders agreed to keep in touch and speak again by phone if necessary.

According to the Kremlin representative, rebuilding relations could bring significant benefits to the trade and economy of both countries.
