RTL will stop daily soap 'Unter uns' at the end of 2026

RTL wants to stop production of the daily soap Unter uns at the end of 2026. The broadcaster announced that production of the series for RTL will not continue beyond the end of 2026. Episodes that have already been produced will therefore be shown in full on RTL and RTL+; the current season will run until March 2027. RTL and UFA announced that they wanted to honor the series with a “big season finale”.

The decision is part of the strategic further development of the afternoon and early evening programs, RTL said. The deciding factor was “changed economic conditions for daily fictional programs, the development of usage and the future direction of the program route”.

Inga Leschek, Chief Content Officer of RTL Deutschland, said: "Schillerallee has accompanied generations of viewers, told great stories and produced many faces that are still associated with RTL today."

The decision to stop the series was not easy, said Leschek. "But a strong program also means continually developing it further." The RTL series Good Times, Bad Times and Everything That Matters would be continued.

However, RTL's decision does not have to mean the end of Unter uns. According to the information, the production company Ufa Serial Drama is currently examining what prospects there are for the future of the series. “These stories are far from being told for us,” said Ufa CEO Sascha Schwingel.

Among Us is one of the longest-running series on German television. The soap has been shown on weekdays on RTL's afternoon program since November 1994 - only Good Times, Bad Times (GZSZ), which has been on RTL since 1992, runs even longer. Almost 8,000 episodes of Unter uns have been filmed in Cologne so far.
