Romanian services prevented the sabotage operation

Tuesday's statement from Serviciul Român de Informații reads:

"SRI, in cooperation with DIICOT (agency for combating organized crime), MAI-DCCO (police unit for combating organized crime), MApN-DGIA (military intelligence) and external partner services, prevented a sabotage operation on Romanian territory involving a Russian citizen residing in Romania."

The 40-year-old man had been under SRI surveillance since February and was the subject of an extensive investigation into sabotage activities.

According to SRI, the obtained data indicate a similar pattern of activities used in the territory of European countries by saboteur networks coordinated by entities from the Russian Federation.

"A Russian citizen was ordered by an intermediary to produce photo-video materials showing targets of military importance, including Ukrainian Antonov transport planes, during their presence on the territory of the country. The investigation also showed that the Russian Federation continues to use persons from sensitive categories to conduct such illegal activities," Digi24.ro quotes a statement from the services as saying.
