S wants to strengthen the high-cost cover for dental care for everyone over 67

During the current term of office, the high-cost protection has been strengthened so that the state covers 90 percent of dental care costs for everyone over 67.

Treatments that are included are, for example, repairs, root fillings, treatments for caries and tooth extraction. The high-cost cover, for example, does not cover examinations, X-rays or preventive dental care. It also does not apply to treatments where a crown, bridge or implant is inserted far back in the mouth.

The Sweden Democrats have previously proposed that the limit of a maximum of ten percent of a dental treatment should apply "for all Swedes". A proposal that S is now following. According to S, the reform would cost around six billion kroner a year. This will also include more places on the dental courses.

S also wants to reintroduce free dental care for 19–23-year-olds, something that the government removed during this term.

The Left Party has also previously come up with similar dental care proposals. The party wants to introduce a high-cost cover for dental care of SEK 1,200 per year, and make dental care free for people up to 23 years of age.

In total, the reforms would cost SEK 4.5 billion, according to V's calculations.
