Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Sakarya Governor Rahmi Doğan, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar, BİK General Manager Abdulkadir Çay, Demirören News Agency (DHA) General Manager Cemal Coşkun, BİK Sakarya Regional Director İbrahim Çorbacı and protocol members attended the ceremony.
'WE SEE ROAD TRANSFORMATIONS TAKING PLACE IN EVERY FIELD'
Speaking at the ceremony, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran emphasized that they are in the middle of the age of transformation and said, "When we look at the situation in the world today, we see that radical transformations are taking place in every field, from the economy to the military field, from politics to technology, from industry to education. We personally observed this transformation during our President's trip to America at the beginning of this week. As you have followed, our President will attend the United Nations 81st General Assembly meetings and hold various contacts. He was in York. We saw firsthand that the issues raised by our President both in his bilateral contacts and in his addresses to the general assembly had a response in the world conscience. Especially the favor and appreciation received by his words regarding Gaza created a lot of discomfort in certain circles, and this need for transformation in the world finds a stronger response day by day with the emphasis on global justice of the 'World is Bigger than Five' principle. Turkey has been advocating the resolution of global and regional conflicts through diplomatic methods and multilateral cooperation for years. "The issue is more than just a diplomatic discourse for us, it is an issue on which we personally take initiative in Ukraine, the Middle East and the current crises," he said.
DIPLOMATIC COOPERATION AND RESOLUTION OF CRISIS
Referring to President Erdoğan's talks at the United Nations General Assembly, Director of Communications Duran said:
"Diplomatic cooperation and resolution of crises were also on the agenda in bilateral meetings. Our President had a very intense meeting traffic there in terms of bilateral meetings and meeting with civil society and business leaders. During our visit to the UN this year, we were there with two major topics that concern Turkey. One of them is the COP31 summit, which will be held in Antalya in November 2026. Of course, the climate issue was an important agenda item for the UN this year, as every year. Before the climate summit, our teams made many preparations. Our President also attended the High Level Meeting on Climate Action and Just Transition and shared Turkey's preparations for COP31 and its approach to combating climate change with the international public. Another important topic on our agenda during his visit to America was the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Turkish-American diplomatic relations, as the Directorate of Communications, with the participation of our Minister of Foreign Affairs on 21 September 2026. "As we enter a second century in our bilateral relations, the 100th anniversary of Turkish-American relations coincided with a period when the current international order went through a serious restructuring. Turkish-American relations have survived many crises and tests, but without breaking the alliance or interrupting the dialogue each time."
'COMMUNICATION PROCESSES ARE BEING RESHAPE'
Stating that a new era has begun, Burhanettin Duran said, "Now, a new era, a new century begins. In this period, we expect the two countries to continue to understand each other's priorities well and diversify their relations in social and cultural fields. As the Directorate of Communications, we will keep the 100th anniversary of relations on the agenda with various events where Turkey-US relations will be discussed throughout 2027. Of course, the field of communication cannot be separated from this transformation and change in international relations that I have just explained. Digitalization, artificial intelligence technologies and algorithms are reshaping almost all communication processes, from news production to information circulation. As the Directorate of Communications, we strive to focus on the positive aspects of this transformation and ensure that both our media and our society benefit from the opportunities it offers. We see it as essential for our nation to easily access accurate information in an environment where news and information can be produced and disseminated in seconds. In line with the Turkey Century vision put forward by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we are struggling to increase the communication capacity of our country. Of course, while doing all this, we do not ignore the challenges of the transformation we mentioned. We all know how widespread and effective disinformation, misleading information and manipulation are today, and what serious consequences they can produce. Therefore, while we fight against disinformation on a 24/7 basis, on the other hand, we do not ignore the challenges of the transformation we mentioned. "We are working with all our strength because we are aware that a communication ecosystem polluted by disinformation is a very serious threat to our social peace, national unity and solidarity, and even our national security. For this, we need a strong media ecosystem in every sense."
