Salerno, student arrested for terrorism: he had manuals for explosives and clandestine weapons

The agents of the Digos of Salerno and the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police have arrested a 21-year-old Italian student in flagrante delicto on charges of possession of material containing instructions on the preparation or use of deadly war devices for terrorist purposes and possession of clandestine weapons.

The investigations

The young university student already had a police record for fraud and illegal possession of weapons. The arrest was made necessary after the search ordered by decree of the Salerno Prosecutor's Office (prosecutor Raffaele Cantone, deputy Rocco Alfano) and carried out by specialists from the State Police. The individual had already been reported by AISE as an Internet user dedicated to the search for manuals relating to training, weapons and the preparation of explosives, as well as publications attributable to the Islamic State, having also expressed the intention to carry out plans for violent actions. During the search, material of investigative interest was seized: in particular, manuals containing instructions for the construction of bombs as well as certifying his full adherence to the ideology of Islamic radicalism. Furthermore, two knives were found, a machete of approximately 50 centimetres, two pistols (a Colt and a Revolver) were seized, which from an initial examination, although blank, appear to have been modified with an active functional cycle, and 107 blank ammunition. The 21-year-old was taken to the Fuorni prison awaiting validation interrogation.
