MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Sales of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in Russia are expected to double by the end of 2026 from last year’s level, Sergey Tselikov, the head of the Autostat agency, said on his Telegram account.

"Overall, more than 100,000 electric cars and plug-in hybrids will be sold in Russia this year. Compared to last year, the EV segment will double," he said.

According to Tselikov, 11,400 "pure" electric vehicles and 58,700 plug-in hybrids were registered in Russia during the first nine months of this year. Sales of electric cars grew by 42%, while those of plug-in hybrids increased 2.5-fold.

At the same time, the market share of "pure" electric cars in the first nine months accounted for 1.2%, while plug-in hybrids made up 6.1%. In September 2026, these figures increased to 2.6% and 8.2%, respectively.

"In the opinion of market participants voiced yesterday at the CarX 2026 forum, the EV market will continue to grow even if the fuel situation normalizes. This is a global trend, with China driving it," Tselikov added.

According to the expert, manufacturers will offer an increasing number of electric-drive models. They will become more affordable each year, while their charging speeds and range will continue to increase.
