Highlights from the statements of Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır are as follows:
United Nations General Assembly meetings are an opportunity for us to come together with representatives from both the United States and around the world, especially those from the business world, who are here on the occasion of these meetings.
We have just held the final meeting of the Türkiye-United States Investment Summit under the chairmanship of our esteemed President. Previously, we had the opportunity to directly learn the expectations of investors and their plans for Turkey and the region, and to share Turkey's vision with investors, in roundtable meetings with other ministers in our fields.
Yesterday, at the advanced technologies and industry round table meeting, especially with the Turkish-American Business Council, we shared our work with American companies on critical topics such as cloud, especially the steps we have taken recently, data centers and artificial intelligence, in which areas and in which direction Turkey plans to make investments.
It is a fact that every year when we meet with investors here, there is actually a stronger interest in our country than in the previous year. Because especially the geostrategic developments in the world, unfortunately the conflicts are never ending and many countries in our north, east and south are experiencing different problems... But besides all these, the fact that Turkey continues its strong path as an island of stability presents a new opportunity to meet with investments. Investors are trying to make the best use of this opportunity, especially to direct their plans more towards Turkey.
Of course, we, as the Ministry of Industry and Technology, attach great importance to data center and artificial intelligence investments in the coming period. This revolution, which is transforming every field at great speed... Just as electricity and the internet have caused great ruptures in world history in the past decades, artificial intelligence is now poised to create a rupture even greater than theirs. In such a process, as Türkiye, we want to establish our own infrastructure, develop our own capabilities and bring international cooperation and investments to our country as much as possible.
Of course, artificial intelligence is a technology that can affect not just one or a few sectors, but all sectors and almost all areas of life. There are different views around the world regarding the current level of artificial intelligence's capabilities and the level it can reach in the future. World history has shown us in the past what can happen when there is no international consensus on any technology. Nuclear technology, which can be seen among the most valuable technologies the world has today, was one of the largest-scale war instruments in world history about 80 years ago.
Therefore, being able to develop all kinds of technological capabilities for the benefit of humanity and creating a consensus in this direction as the human family is actually Turkey's offer to humanity. Yesterday, our President made this call to the whole world at the 81st meeting of the United Nations General Assembly and said, "Let's accelerate the process of the United Nations Artificial Intelligence Convention on artificial intelligence and reach consensus on a common point." he said.
Of course, as Türkiye, we care about the security aspect of artificial intelligence and take into account the risks that may arise with artificial intelligence. We are also strengthening our national measures towards this end. However, we are also very aware of the opportunities that the development of artificial intelligence will bring. We are a very young country, we have a very dynamic population. Our technology and artificial intelligence adaptation is very high, and our sectoral portfolio is very broad. We are the leading country in terms of product diversity and export market diversity in the region extending from China to the middle of Europe. Therefore, we know the opportunities that artificial intelligence can bring to our different sectors.
In addition, Turkey has a very strong public infrastructure in service areas such as health and education. When we combine this infrastructure with artificial intelligence opportunities, we can increase efficiency to a much higher level. We aim for this, and that is why we have prioritized these opportunities in our artificial intelligence action plan. We will open publicly owned data sets to artificial intelligence developers. We will transform at least 2 thousand public data sets into new generation technologies, products and services together with artificial intelligence developers.
Türkiye has to be a strong country in terms of data infrastructure and computing infrastructure. We have a strong energy infrastructure. We have serious experience in this field. Hopefully, we will create artificial intelligence growth regions in the coming period. We will cluster both national and international investments in these regions with sustainable energy supply.
At the same time, we prioritize human resources in artificial intelligence. As you know, we have set a goal: In two years, we will provide artificial intelligence literacy training to 5 million citizens, train 100 thousand artificial intelligence professionals and ensure that at least 10 thousand of them complete advanced level specialist training.
Of course, Türkiye will also prioritize international alliances. We do not adopt a techno-blocking approach in this area. As our President stated yesterday on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly, Türkiye does not want artificial intelligence to become a new polarization topic. Türkiye aims for humanity to develop artificial intelligence together and use it for the benefit of humanity with a common framework; It strongly supports initiatives aimed at this.
