Second round of the 2026 elections will be this Sunday (25): see the voting time

In the dispute for the Presidency of the Republic, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) are running for the position.

In some states, voters will also choose the next governor.

Voting will be held across the country, from 8 am to 5 pm, Brasília time.

What is the date of the second round of the 2026 elections?

The second round of elections is scheduled for this Sunday, October 25, 2026. The date follows the electoral calendar, which foresees voting on the last Sunday of October.

The first round was held on October 4th. On that occasion, voters voted for president, governors, senators and federal, state and district deputies.

As no presidential candidate obtained an absolute majority of valid votes in the first round, the dispute continues to the second vote, between Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

How does the second round of elections work?

The second round occurs when no candidate for president of the Republic or governor obtains more than half of the valid votes in the first round, excluding blank and invalid votes.

In this situation, the two candidates with the most votes compete for a new vote. Whoever receives the majority of valid votes in the second round is elected.

The rule does not apply to the positions of senator and deputy. In these cases, the election is defined in the first round.
