A ceremony was held for Serhat Kılıç, his friends and family shared their memories

The ceremony started by watching photographs of the 51-year-old actor, who died at his home in Kağıthane, and videos of the plays he took part in.

In his speech, Birol Güven, General Director of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stated that he attended the ceremony as a friend of Serhat Kılıç and said, "Our paths crossed in the TV series Seksenler. I had known him before, but I did not know him. To admit, I offered him a very small role. He did not mind at all, but he played that role in such a way that he enlarged it so much that, of course, together with our other friends, it suddenly became the most important story of our series." he said.

Stating that Kılıç lived by magnifying emotions such as happiness and sadness, Güven said, "He was a very special talent in front of the camera. He was a very different talent on the stage, but he was also very special in front of the orchestra, he was a very good singer. He really loved surprising people, especially professional musicians, with his singing." he said.

"He will always be remembered with love, respect and longing"

Ayşegül İşsever, General Art Director of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) City Theatres, expressed her deep sadness over Kılıç's death and said, "I could not speak for a long time from the moment I heard about it. There has never been a time when I felt so helpless." he said.

Stating that he met him during the rehearsals of a play at the Haldun Taner Stage, İşsever said:

"I had a rehearsal, too. The two actors chatted between two rehearsals. I thought, 'What a respectful, energetic, and enthusiastic actor he is.' This did not change at all when I followed him later. I was not surprised at all when I learned that he had received an award, because he was really successful. Whatever I say here would be incomplete. I would like to express my condolences to everyone again. May he rest in peace. He will always be remembered with love, respect and longing in this house."

"Contrary to popular belief, he used to cry a lot"

Actor Ertan Saban stated that they worked together with Kılıç on the last project.

Pointing out that Kılıç attaches importance to quality, Saban said, "Thank you all for coming. Contrary to popular belief, he used to cry a lot. My brother, who made Türkiye laugh, was my brother who had eleven talents in ten fingers. We had the opportunity to spend the last year and a half together. We had worked together before. Our rooms were next to each other in our last project. I guess they gave me room to keep an eye on me." he said.

Actor Bennu Yıldırımlar told the story of how he met Kılıç. Yıldırımlar expressed his feelings with the following words:

"He was a friend of ours who was passionate about life and his profession, who was loyal to his family, his loved ones, and all the teachers who contributed to him. He was a rare find as a colleague. He was tireless in rehearsals, he believed in team spirit, he was honest and sincere... He was a complete actor down to his cells, whom you could lean on safely on stage, who enjoyed playing the game infinitely. The stories he told with his eyes that saw contradictions, without losing his sense of humor, are unforgettable. We continued to watch him as an audience off stage, too. He was a good actor." "He was an observer and a storyteller, and so was his voice and music."

At the ceremony, actors Mahir İpek, Burak Altay, Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, Selim Bayraktar and Emre Karayel, musician Uğur Gülbaharlı and dramaturg Dilek Tekintaş also gave speeches and shared their memories, feelings and thoughts about Kılıç.

After the ceremony attended by the artist's father, Mehmet Ali Kılıç, his theater friends and loved ones, the funeral was carried on shoulders and sent off.

Kılıç's funeral prayer will be performed at Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque in Ankara tomorrow at noon. The player's body will be buried in Karşıyaka Cemetery.
