Susan Sarandon: There is a great enlightenment about US support for Israel

American Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon met with members of the press after the screening of the movie "The Echo Chamber" in which she starred, within the scope of the 83rd Venice Film Festival held in Italy this year.

Pointing out that the narrative about the historical importance of Palestine and Zionism's ties and politics with the USA has completely changed, Sarandon said, "This was a great enlightenment for people, how much money the USA gave to Israel... Nobody fully understood this."

Sarandon stated that they voted to "unite" the US army with the Israeli army, and therefore pointed out that people are now aware of many things.

The 79-year-old Oscar-winning artist, who stated that some role offers continued to be withdrawn due to agencies recently telling people not to hire him, thanked the director of the film, Andrea Pallaoro, for "not listening to the warnings".

"There are still views in the movie industry that are strictly defended by Zionists who have not softened their attitude towards me," Sarandon said, adding that she found her family and people to whom she feels she belongs and that she is fine now.

The talent agency "United Talent Agency (UTA)", where Sarandon worked, parted ways with the artist, who made a statement of support for Palestine in 2023.
