Why It Matters
Fiorentina plays the postponed matchday 11 of the championship against Juventus at the Franchi. The team achieved their first success outside the relegation zone by beating Sassuolo 4-2 last Monday. Fiorentina haven't won at home in the league since last April (1-0 against Lazio).
Anticipation is mounting in Florence for the match that has always been most heartfelt, the one against Juventus scheduled at the Franchi on Sunday at 8.45pm, the postponement of the 11th matchday of the championship.
The stadium, net of the halved capacity due to the restyling works still in progress, is announced to be fully booked (over 22,000 tickets sold so far) while the clubs of the Curva Fiesole are preparing a special choreography with thousands of flags forming a design that will be visible at the time of the anthem.
In the meantime, the team continues its preparation at Viola Park under the orders of Paolo Vanoli who will speak at the press conference tomorrow at 12.30. The return to success last Monday at Sassuolo (final result 4-2) restored some momentum in the environment and allowed Fiorentina to leave the relegation zone for the first time. However, the path is still long and full of pitfalls, the objective is to find continuity of performances and above all of efficiency starting from the match against Juventus against whom De Gea and his teammates will try to win a home victory that has been missing in the league since last April (1-0 against Lazio). This time too, Vanoli will not be able to have Atta and Pongracic at his disposal, while Ranieri's recovery is also difficult but he has resumed training partially in the group and will try until the end.
As for the lineup, the good contribution of Goncalves and Oulai who took over against Sassuolo fuels the run-offs with Brescianini and Fagioli, one of the many former players in the match together with Joao Mario and sporting director Fabio Paratici
Open Questions
- Who will be the starting line-up between Brescianini and Fagioli?
- Will Ranieri be able to recover in time for the match?
- What will be the outcome of the choreography of the Curva Fiesole?
