The rector changed at Şırnak University: Abdurrahim Alkış, who came to the fore with his controversial appointments, was replaced by İbrahim Baz.

The rector appointment decisions signed by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were published in the Official Gazette. Within the scope of the decision, rectors were changed in 11 universities.

One of the most striking changes in appointments took place at Şırnak University. Prof., who came to the fore with allegations regarding academic staff announcements and the management approach at the university during his term of office. Dr. Abdurrahim Alkış was replaced by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baz was brought.

IT CAME TO THE AGENDA WITH "ADDRESS DELIVERY STAFF" CLAIMS

During Alkış's rectorship, allegations that academic and administrative staff announcements at the university were prepared for specific people created controversy in the public.

The job posting for one person, which was claimed to have been opened for Alkış's brother Abdullah Alkış, attracted attention. It was reported that in the posts made on the social media account belonging to Abdullah Alkış, expressions were used to imply that the squad in question had been prepared for him in advance.

"FULL OBEDIENCE AND LOYALTY" DEBATE

Applause also came to the fore with social media posts claiming that academic appointments would be based on loyalty rather than merit.

In the posts claimed to belong to Alkış in December 2025, it was claimed that loyalty to him would be the determining factor in appointments to academic positions and that some names would be promoted.

Şırnak University Senate, in its statement following the allegations, claimed that the posts in question had nothing to do with the rector. The university administration rejected the allegations, claiming that the screenshots were changed by digital methods.

IT WAS ALLEGED THAT HE TARGETED THE OPPOSITION MEDIA

Another controversy that arose about Applause was the social media statements attributed to him.

It was claimed that Alkış targeted the press organizations reporting on the allegations of staffing at the university and described himself as being in "Prophetic loneliness".

NEW RECTOR İBRAHİM BAZ BECAME THE NEW RECTOR

With the Presidential Decree No. 2026/387 published in the Official Gazette dated November 7, 2026, Prof. was appointed to the Rectorate of Şırnak University. Dr. İbrahim Baz was appointed.
