The prosecutor changed the suspect's charge from attempted murder and active assault on a police officer while performing his official duties to committing this crime, she said.

According to the prosecutor's office, the 33-year-old acted with the direct intention of taking the life of a policeman performing his official duties.

During the first interrogation, Mariusz G. admitted to shooting the officer. On Thursday, however, he disagreed with the murder charge. He also provided explanations.

The man is also suspected of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of amphetamine, which was found during a search of the premises he occupied.

The court decided to temporarily arrest the 33-year-old for three months. For the alleged crimes, he faces a sentence ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment.

The Commander-in-Chief of Police and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, expressed their condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased officer.
