SEOUL, June 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Cambodia discussed ways to expand bilateral economic ties building on their free trade agreement (FTA), the trade ministry said Monday.

Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol in Seoul, who is visiting South Korea for the Incheon-Cambodia Investment Roadshow set to be held Tuesday in Incheon, west of the capital, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.

The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including the achievements of the bilateral FTA, which went into effect in 2022, as well as cooperation on official development assistance (ODA) programs.

The combined trade volume between the two countries came to US$1.19 billion in 2025, rising sharply from $966 million in 2021.

During the meeting, the Cambodian deputy prime minister noted that South Korea's ODA projects in the Southeast Asian nation have been making significant contributions to its economic development, expressing hope for closer ties in the future.

"Based on continued cooperation with Cambodia, the government plans to expand bilateral exchanges and support the stable expansion of South Korean businesses in the Cambodian market," the ministry said.
