Su Giudeu beach, an Algerian arrested for the boat that hit the 17 year old

One of the migrants on board the motorboat which hit a 17-year-old girl in front of Su Giudeu beach, about fifty kilometers from Cagliari, has been arrested for aiding and abetting illegal immigration and causing negligent injury.

He is a 28-year-old Algerian citizen. The identification procedures of the other people on board the vessel are still underway. Joint investigations by the State Police and Carabinieri to ascertain the dynamics of the accident and identify any responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the young woman's condition is stable. According to what we learn, there have also been improvements in the clinical picture, but the girl is still hospitalized at the Brotzu hospital. It was a fiberglass vessel powered by an 85 horsepower outboard motor that overwhelmed her. Immediately after the clash - this is the reconstruction of the Carabinieri - the boat resumed its journey by sea in an attempt to cover its tracks, heading towards the nearby beach of Tuerredda.

Once they touched land, the passengers disembarked and tried to escape inland, but their escape did not last long.

The military quickly patrolled the main landing routes, tracking down and stopping the entire group: 14 adult men of Algerian nationality, without documents but apparently in good health.

The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri with the collaboration of the staff of the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters, under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Cagliari, made it possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the facts and to identify the man who was presumed to be at the helm: a 28-year-old Algerian. At the end of the formal checks, the young man was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting illegal immigration and causing very serious bodily harm, and was subsequently taken to Uta prison.
