Analysis

BIG one for the Guardians here on Friday night in the second game of the doubleheader. Cleveland is in the third American League Wild Card spot by the thinnest of margins and only sits three games behind the White Sox in the American League Central Division. Foster Griffin takes the hill for the Guardians and is a 15-4 with a 3.21 ERA this season, including a win over the Tigers last month. The Tigers are scheduled to start 24 year old Andrew Sears but this seems like a bullpen game to me in Game 2. I'm backing Cleveland at home to beat their division rivals in the night cap of this doubleheader.

Analysis

DraftKings. Logan Allen draws the first start for the Guardians in their double header today. The lefty is pitching on five days rest after making four relief outings for Cleveland after being recalled from AAA. Ten days ago, his appearance consisted of 50 pitches - and before he was recalled to the majors, he was being used exclusively as a starter in the minor leagues. Assessing all of this with the tired Guardians bullpen, the assumption is likely that Allen can go for 60-70 pitches today. The Tigers have really struggled against lefties, with a .628 OPS since the All Star Break.

Analysis

Need to have some opinion on a college football game tonight -- I'll be watching Toledo-Michigan State to see if the Pat Fitzgerald era with Sparty gets off to a good start. I don't have very high expectations there; lean Under, though, as they will run, run, short pass all night knowing Fitz. Half unit here because I don't think much of Eastern, but tough travel for an SJSU team that is basically starting from scratch roster-turnover wise. I am moderately familiar with Chris Creighton at LIMU EMU (hate those commercials but guess they are working since I just repeated the slogan). Both played Week 0, and the Eagles looked a lot better and didn't travel.

Analysis

I have gotten my brains beaten in MLB this week no doubt. I'm not supposed to say that, but I want to be real here. Not an AI bot, I take this personally (and it's costly). It reminds of a scene from one of my favorite movies Wedding Crashers. Blah blah long story short but I always remember when Vince Vaughn is happy and calls a very depressed Owen Wilson, whose answering machine message is simply: "Whatever." I loved that so much because whatever is one of my favorite words. How I feel about baseball right now is "whatever." Not a quitter but now going to become super particular with other options. And fading the Giants away (one good MLB thing yesterday) is definitely one.
