United States and Venezuela agree to restore diplomatic relations

The United States and the authorities of the interim Venezuelan government, chaired by Delcy Rodríguez, have agreed to re-establish diplomatic and consular relations, as confirmed by the US State Department to Ntn24. Washington has made it clear that it will support the Venezuelan people and collaborate with the provisional authorities and civil society in the three-phase plan for stabilization, economic recovery, political reconciliation and the transition to a democratically elected government.

Authorities in Caracas will also be able to accredit diplomats to the United States and begin the process of re-establishing the diplomatic presence. The announcement came after the renovation of the Venezuelan consulate general in New York, whose facade was renovated in recent weeks after a long period of disrepair. The headquarters is located next to St. Patrick's Cathedral.
