Colombia, videos of President de la Espriella among the corpses removed from social media

The Colombian government has removed videos from social media showing President Abelardo de la Espriella walking among the corpses of alleged criminals killed by security forces, following a judicial order.

A judge on Tuesday ordered the temporary blackout of the videos, published on 2 and 4 September by the Presidency's account on the Meta group platforms.

The measure will remain in force until a decision is made on the possible definitive removal of the contents, which are considered violent. The videos were also subsequently removed from X, where one had been pinned to the president's personal profile. The national forensic institute had criticized the dissemination of the images, calling it a violation of human dignity. De la Espriella, in office for just over a month, has stepped up operations against armed groups, with support from the United States.
