Stéphanie Gicquel signs a historic performance at the 100 km of Millau

Stéphanie Gicquel delivered a historic performance. She won in 7h58 on the legendary Millau 100 km course (with 1200 meters of elevation gain). This race, also called the Doyenne, is the oldest (54 years of existence) and one of the most demanding French events over this distance.

The Carcassonnaise signed her third victory in Millau, improving the record for the event which she had already improved in 2023 and 2025. The athlete is the first woman to go under the 8 hour mark since 1972. She finished 10th overall out of 1,500 runners at the start.

An intense and complete journey

If it were a stage of the Tour de France, the 100 km of Millau would be a stage for adventurers. This race was made even more demanding since it took place in the middle of the afternoon, on asphalt, in the heat and in full sun. 42 hilly kilometers to start, a marathon to get your legs up, and a series of hills and passes in the fabulous landscapes of the Causses where the Millau Viaduct proudly stands. The race has had 100,000 participants since its creation. It’s the 100 km that counts the most.

A high-level sportswoman (European vice-champion, world vice-champion with the French athletics team and two French athletics records), polar explorer, writer and speaker, the versatile French athlete will take the start, this Saturday, of the 100 km of the French Championships, an unprecedented sequence at the international level.
