Sveriges Radio review: Judges and jurors convicted of crimes

According to judgments that Kaliber has gone through from the years 2021 to 2025, five judges have also committed crimes during their tenure.

Some of the people have been convicted of several crimes, such as gross violation of women's rights, sexual harassment and fraud.

All politicians in the Riksdag except the Liberals have had jurors who committed crimes at the same time as they have convicted others in court, according to the review.

The Sweden Democrats have the most, with twelve people. Even the Center Party, with six convicted jurors, stands out as the number is twice as many as in the smaller parties, the Christian Democrats, the Green Party and the Left Party.

Approved by the municipal council

It is the task of the courts to check that the jurors obey the law during the time they have their duties.

The nomination of people, on the other hand, is done by the political parties in the municipal council. The number of jurors from each party must reflect the election results in the respective municipality.

Neither the Sweden Democrats nor the Center Party have wanted to comment on Kaliber's review, other than that they carry out checks and have clear ethical rules within the parties.
