In December, a summit of the leaders of the G20 countries will be held in Miami, America. Poland was among the invited countries.

Nawrocki: Poland's presence in the work of the G20 is an opportunity

President Karol Nawrocki emphasized on Monday that he wanted the voice of the entire Three Seas Initiative to be heard at the December summit.

This is our task so that the voice of the entire Three Seas region can be heard at the G20 summit, based on the real needs and experiences of companies operating in our region, he said.

He pointed out that this region is inhabited by approximately one third of the population of the European Union, and according to data from the International Monetary Fund, the total value of the economies of the Three Seas countries exceeded USD 6.4 trillion last year.

At the same time, he assessed that the political and economic impact of the Three Seas Initiative did not reflect its enormous potential. Poland's presence in the work of the G20 is an opportunity to simply change this, not only on behalf of Poland, but also in the interest of the entire region, said Nawrocki.

Nawrocki: Constructive proposals from Poland

Economic freedom and social solidarity are not opposites. If done well, they strengthen each other and this is the idea that guides the Republic of Poland today. The experience understood in this way leads to three constructive proposals that Poland will want to introduce to the agenda of the G20 meeting - said the president on Monday at a meeting with Polish and foreign entrepreneurs from the Three Seas region "Poland. The Power of the Three Seas in the G20".

Nawrocki explained that the first issue concerns foreign investments. He added that he would like them to be measured not only by the amount of capital, but also by technology transfer, the participation of local suppliers, the creation of research and development centers and leaving a greater part of the added value in the host country.

The second proposal concerns demographic issues, including the aging of society, but also the outflow of talents and changes in the labor market. The debate here cannot be limited to indicators alone. We are actually faced with a choice between a model that leaves the individual alone in the face of risk and a community model based on responsibility for the family and subsequent generations, he said.

The third proposal concerns the diversification of energy sources and supply directions, cross-border infrastructure and giving up dangerous dependence on one supplier. The energy transition should be ambitious, but should take into account the structure of the economy, resources and social capabilities of each country. We can, of course, pursue a common goal in different ways, but combine emission reduction with security of supply, industry competitiveness and protection of family budgets, Nawrocki emphasized.

What is the Three Seas Initiative?

The Three Seas Initiative is a platform for cooperation between thirteen countries located between the Adriatic, Baltic and Black Seas. Its aim is to strengthen the cohesion of the European Union by strengthening infrastructure, energy and economic cooperation.
