New generation retro game console with a completely transparent design: Arduview

While transparently designed devices in the technology world generally attract attention with their external bodies, the Arduview game console completely changes this perception. Designed by developer Louis Huang, this new device offers a completely transparent experience not only with its outer casing but also with the circuit board and display components inside.

Considering that previously released transparent electronic products were not transparent enough, Huang aimed to maximize the visibility of internal components in this project. This approach allows each part of the device to be directly visible to the user.

A New Era in Transparent Design

Arduview takes the design language of iconic transparent devices of the past, such as the Game Boy Color Atomic Purple or the Commodore Starlight C64U, one step further. The main difference in the design of the device is that transparency is not limited to the outer body, but also includes critical components such as the circuit board and OLED display.

This design choice makes the internal structure of the device stand out as an aesthetic element. When users hold the console in their hands, they can directly observe how the device works and what parts it consists of.

The total weight of the device is approximately 50 grams, which makes it very portable. The designers took care to keep the physical structure of the device as simple as possible to offer a nostalgic gaming experience.

Arduview does not include any modern features such as an application store or Wi-Fi connection. This supports the device's goal of providing a completely simple and focused gaming experience.

Technical Specifications and Sales Plan

The console, which derives its technical infrastructure from the open source Arduboy platform, is powered by the ATmega32u4 microcontroller. Arduview game console appeals to nostalgia enthusiasts by offering approximately 400 8-bit games to users right out of the box.

Data transfer, game installation processes and charging processes are carried out entirely via the USB-C port. This choice provides a usage experience compatible with modern standards.

The manufacturer has started a pre-registration process on its website for users interested in the device. The founder price set for early supporters was announced as $ 49.

Users who want to secure this special price must pay a refundable deposit of $5. The company states that this deposit can be refunded until the device is shipped.

The general retail price of the console is planned to be around $100. Although the start date of the Kickstarter campaign is not yet clear, general sales are aimed to start in 2027 after a successful process.
