Teenage Australian Golfer Jessica Bang Dies in Thailand After Brain Haemorrhage

Teenage Australian golfer Jessica Bang has died in Thailand after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The 18-year-old collapsed on August 1, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, before being rushed to Synphaet Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok. WPGA Tour of Australasia announced Bang's death in a statement on Thursday night. "The WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community is deeply saddened by the passing of young Tour member Jessica Bang in Thailand," the statement read. "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community are with Jessica's family, friends and all those who knew and loved her at this incredibly difficult time." Bang was in Thailand preparing to play in the International Qualifying Tournament for the Korean women's professional tour. In just her fifth professional start, Bang won her first tournament in February, the Women's NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event at Moss Vale. Bang won by five shots, including an eight-under final round 65, which set a new course record at Moss Vale Golf Club, as reported by Australian Golf Digest.
