While renovating a house in Belgium, some workers discovered a treasure of gold, worth an estimated 9 million euros. The discovery was sealed in the cellar walls. According to local media and the BBC, construction workers stumbled upon the hidden treasure of gold bars and coins while carrying out drilling work to lay new sewer pipes. The house is located on a property in East Flanders.

The discovery has sparked interest in who might win the treasure: both the developers and the local charity that owns the site have a chance to claim it. After launching an investigation, the police advised the public against going there in search of more treasure, saying that all the gold had been moved to a safe place.

Construction workers, including an 18-year-old boy, found the treasure while working on the building's foundations. “Our first reaction was disbelief and amazement,” the 18-year-old, named Kobe, told Belgian public broadcaster VRT. "At first I thought they were 1 euro coins. But then we also saw a gold nugget nearby. That's when we realized it was something bigger."
