The Ministry of Commerce announced the results of the market inspections carried out in the first 7 months of 2026. A total of 282 thousand 153 companies and 34 million 278 thousand 291 products were inspected by the inspection units within the Ministry. A total of 1 billion 874 million TL administrative fines were imposed on businesses that were found to be in violation.
Audits; It was reported that it was carried out in many areas, especially price gouging, hoarding, unfair commercial practices, automotive, real estate, jewellery, product safety and consumer contracts.
633.4 MILLION TL PENALTY FOR UNFAIR COMMERCIAL PRACTICES
48 thousand 735 real and legal persons were inspected by the General Directorate of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Commerce in the first 7 months of the year within the scope of automotive, stockpiling, real estate, jewelry, exorbitant prices, unfair commercial practices and payment periods. A total of 633.4 million TL administrative fines were given to 4 thousand 686 people and companies who were found to be in violation.
In this context, approximately 400 million TL fines were imposed on price gouging practices, 135 million TL fines were imposed on the automotive industry, 34.4 million TL fines were imposed on the real estate industry and 11.3 million TL fines were imposed on the jewelery industry. A total of 51 million TL administrative fines were imposed during inspections regarding commercial electronic messages, working hours and licensed warehouses.
613.5 MILLION TL FINE IN CONSUMER INSPECTIONS
31 thousand 446 real and legal persons were inspected by the General Directorate of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance in the first 7 months of the year. Approximately 613.5 million TL administrative fines were imposed on 1,206 individuals and companies whose illegal actions were detected.
A fine of 418.3 million TL was imposed due to violations in prepaid housing, subscription, distance selling, installment sales, package tour and timeshare contracts to which consumers are parties. An administrative fine of 185.8 million TL was imposed in audits for advertising and unfair commercial practices, and an administrative fine of 9.4 million TL was imposed in product safety audits.
PROVINCIAL DIRECTORATES OF TRADE INSPECTED 201 THOUSAND COMPANIES
201 thousand 972 companies and approximately 34 million products were inspected in the first 7 months of the year through the Provincial Directorates of Commerce in 81 provinces affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce. During these inspections, a total of 627.3 million TL administrative fines were imposed on 39 thousand 547 companies.
It was stated that an administrative fine of approximately 494 million TL was imposed for 103 thousand 414 products found to be in violation in Istanbul. In the same period, 12 million 204 thousand 904 products were inspected in Ankara, 4 million 793 thousand 233 in Istanbul and 3 million 915 thousand 575 products in Antalya.
