Why It Matters
Guests of Krzysztof Ziemec's show on RMF FM commented on current political disputes around the Constitutional Tribunal and proposals to regulate access to the Internet for children.
"Correctly elected judges should be able to judge"
Krzysztof Ziemiec asked his guests how young politicians view the situation around the Constitutional Tribunal.
The Constitutional Tribunal is an institution that should act properly for the benefit of Polish women and men. We cannot talk here all the time about war and jostling for positions. Therefore, if everyone who is responsible, provided for in legal documents, performed their duties, we would not have this situation - said Konrad Gwóźdź.
Properly elected judges should be able to adjudicate. The opinion of politicians in the Chancellery of the President is not binding and they have no reason to believe that any of the judges was incorrectly selected or does not meet the criteria, added the head of the Young People's Forum.
"Circus around the Tribunal"
I think we are all so completely tired of what is happening there. This is a circus that has been going on around the Tribunal for 11 years, said Confederation spokesman Wojciech Machulski. I think that many young people do not even want to delve into this dispute, because it is a completely sterile dispute that does not affect them, he added.
What amuses me the most is that when I look at everything that is happening between PiS and Platform, I see the roles are reversed. These people, in my humble opinion, are ridiculous, because once the Platform puts Rejtan before the Tribunal and says that the judges are illegal, now PiS is doing it - said the guest of RMF FM.
This is a full-stakes game, for full control over Poland. Donald Tusk is no different from Jarosław Kaczyński in this respect, said Machulski.
People's Party on youth access to the Internet
Should the president sign a law that would allow blocking certain content on the Internet - asked Krzysztof Ziemiec, referring to the recent disturbing situations in schools.
Of course it is, but as peasants we also have a completely different point of view when it comes to regulating the Internet and access of young people and children to social media. We are in favor of introducing a ban on the use of social media by children under 15 years of age, said Konrad Gwóźdź.
Of course, this is a very difficult regulation, but each of us has experienced it or heard about it from our immediate surroundings, where young people's opinions about clothing, about who comes from which family, about material value were able to hurt and lead to such psychological damage - he added.
"Tusk cynically took advantage of the tragedy"
In my opinion, this bill definitely goes too far, there is too much discretion. You can, of course, appeal against the decisions of politically motivated officials, but congratulations. You can get stuck in the courts. Of course, freedom is always limited under the guise of security, and the same is true in this case, commented the Confederation spokesman.
I believe that Donald Tusk was very cynical and took advantage of the tragedy that happened in Wyszków to encourage the president to sign the bill that was previously vetoed and went too far, emphasized Wojciech Machulski.
Open Questions
- Will there be a ban on using social media for people under 15?
- What further steps will the authorities take regarding the law on blocking content on the Internet?
