1. FC Union Berlin is strengthening its midfield with Michel Aebischer. The 29-year-old Swiss international is moving to Berlin from the Italian second division club Pisa SC. The central midfielder has more than 300 competitive games at club and national team level.
Borussia Dortmund have signed Dutch midfielder Joey Veerman. The 27-year-old has signed a contract with the German runners-up until the summer of 2031, as Dortmund announced. According to media reports, Borussia Dortmund is using an exit clause and paying around 22 million euros to the Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.
“Joey is a really great footballer who has a lot of creativity, technique and overview,” said Dortmund sporting director Ole Book about the new signing. “He showed at PSV Eindhoven and in the Dutch national team that he can consistently perform well at the top level.”
Veerman played in 198 games for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 31 goals and providing 67 assists. With the club from Eindhoven, the 27-year-old was three times Dutch champion and twice Dutch cup winner. Veerman has played 16 games for the national team so far, but he was not nominated for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Hamburger SV has signed former Bundesliga professional Sebastiaan Bornauw from Premier League club Leeds United. The former VfL Wolfsburg player will be loaned out for a season, the North Germans announced. According to media reports, HSV has a purchase option worth 4.6 million euros.
