TRE-MT registers 479 candidacy requests for the 2026 elections

The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) received 479 requests for registration of candidacy for the 2026 general elections, a number 16.55% lower than that registered in 2022. In total, there were 95 fewer requests than in the previous general election. The deadline for registration ended at 7pm this Saturday (15).

With the deadline approaching, TRE-MT is now beginning to analyze the documents presented by candidates, parties and federations. The Electoral Court will verify that all legal requirements have been met and that the records are in order.

According to TRE-MT, the deadline passed smoothly. The President of the Court, Judge Serly Marcondes Alves, stated that the parties anticipated part of the organization necessary for registering candidacies, which contributed to a more organized process.

“We have fewer registrations compared to the previous general election”, stated the president of TRE-MT. According to her, the reduction in the number of requests also allows the Electoral Court to carry out a more detailed analysis of the processes.

Among the documents analyzed are the so-called Demonstratives of Regularity of Party Acts (DRAPs). They gather information on the regularity of conventions and the formation of slates, including rules related to party composition and gender percentages among candidates. Any irregularity in the DRAP may affect the records of candidates linked to that list.

Applications for candidacy were presented after the party conventions, held between July 20th and August 5th. Registration is the stage that formalizes, before the Electoral Court, the names chosen by parties and federations to contest the elections.
