Three men are arrested during operations in two cities in Maranhão

Three men were arrested this Thursday (5) in Monção and Santa Luzia do Paruá. Two are being investigated for rape of a vulnerable person and one for child support.

A 36-year-old man under investigation is suspected of raping his niece in Mato Grosso. Another man threatened victims in Tocantins to protect his brother.

The third man was arrested in Monção for non-payment of child support. The accumulated debt totaled R$17,338.21 on September 25, 2026.

Three men were arrested this Thursday (5), during actions by the Maranhão Civil Police (PC-MA) in the municipalities of Monção and Santa Luzia do Paruá, in the Vale do Pindaré region. Two of them were being investigated for crimes related to cases of rape of a vulnerable person, which occurred in Mato Grosso and Tocantins. The third was arrested for not paying child support.

The arrests occurred in separate actions, after the execution of two preventive arrest warrants and one civil arrest warrant.

In Monção, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape against his 10-year-old niece, in the state of Mato Grosso.

According to the Civil Police, the crime is investigated by the Specialized Police Station for the Defense of Women in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT). The preventive arrest warrant was issued by the 2nd Criminal Court of the municipality.

The suspect was located in the village of Vila da Paz, in the rural area of ​​Monção. The arrest was carried out by civil police officers from the municipality, with support from the 7th Regional Police Station of Santa Inês.

In Santa Luzia do Paruá, a man was preventively arrested, investigated for threatening two vulnerable rape victims in the municipality of Augustinópolis, in Tocantins.

According to the investigations, the threats would have occurred between March and August 2024. The objective would be to prevent the victims from collaborating with the courts in a criminal case against the brother of the person being investigated, suspected of raping a vulnerable girl against a minor.

Preventive detention was ordered by the Court due to signs of intimidation of the victims and the risk of interference in the progress of the process.

The action was carried out by the Civil Police of Santa Luzia do Paruá, with support from the 7th Regional Police Station of Santa Inês and the Federal Police Capture Group in Maranhão.

Still in Monção, a man was arrested for not paying child support. According to the Civil Police, the accumulated debt reached R$17,338.21, on September 25, 2026.

The civil arrest warrant was issued by the Single Court of the District of Monção, after failure to comply with the obligation to pay the pension. The court ordered the prisoner for a period of three months.

After the legal procedures, the three men would be sent to the prison system, where they would be available to the courts.
