Trosa has the country's highest VA costs - plans multi-million dollar investment

The annual Nils Holgersson report has been gloomy reading for the Trosaborn for the past two years. The report shows that the municipality has the highest VA costs of the country's 290 municipalities.

According to John Carlsson (C), chairman of the technology and service committee, this is mainly due to the fact that the wiring network is outdated. The municipality has now decided on a multi-million dollar investment: The two treatment plants are to be replaced by a large pipeline that carries waste water from Trosa to Botkyrka.

"Others will catch up"

However, Carlsson believes that Trosa's top position in the statistics is temporary. Many municipalities are lagging behind with the maintenance of their pipeline networks, he believes, and will be forced to raise their rates - whether they want to or not.

- I am completely convinced that the country's other municipalities will catch up with Trosa, says Carlsson.

S wants to lower

The Social Democrats' Magnus Johansson largely shares Carlsson's description of the problem, but still believes that the rates can be lowered. He believes that the municipality charges too high an interest rate when it lends money to the VA collective and also questions the business's surplus.
