Trump sends Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow and Kiev to end Ukraine War

US President Donald Trump has launched a new diplomatic initiative to end the Ukraine War, which has been going on for more than four years.

Trump announced that he sent his special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kiev with a new peace proposal.

Axios news site reported that Witkoff and Kushner will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, then with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Sunday.

"THEY ARE SENDING A PROPOSAL TO END THE WAR"

Trump told reporters that Witkoff and Kushner were sent to the region to see if progress could be made on peace.

Trump said, "I sent Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. They're both very good negotiators. We sent them to see if we could get something done, and that might be a good shot." he said.

Explaining that there is a concrete proposal next to the two names, Trump said, "They are making a proposal to end the war." he said.

The US President did not explain whether the plan included Ukraine giving up its territory, as he had previously suggested.

Trump merely said, "We have an idea for peace," without giving details.

THEY WILL GO TO KIEV FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING THE WAR

Trump's close friend Witkoff and his son-in-law Kushner will visit war-torn Kiev for the first time since Trump took office again.

The two names previously took part in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and Iran.

Witkoff and Kushner have been to Moscow many times before as part of their attempts to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine War.

WASHINGTON-MOSCOW TRAFFIC ACCELERATED

Witkoff and Kushner's visit comes about a week after CIA Director John Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow.

According to the US press, Ratcliffe warned Russia against any attack on NATO member countries during these meetings.

The world's eyes are on Witkoff and Kushner's visits. It is eagerly awaited whether Washington's new peace plan will find response in Moscow and Kiev.
