Mladic's funeral criticized as contradicting EU values

Marta Kos, EU Commission Member Responsible for Enlargement, stated that Serbia's decision to hold a high-level funeral for Ratko Mladic, called the "Butcher of Bosnia", is incompatible with EU values. "In this context, I have decided not to make my planned visit to Serbia at this stage," Kos said. The Croatian government also announced that it would block Serbia's membership in the EU if Mladic was buried with a state ceremony. Mladic was considered the main responsible and instigator of the Srebrenica Genocide.
