Statement on the indictment from Tunç Soyer's lawyers: 11 lines of accusation

Lawyers of former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer made a written statement after the indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office within the scope of the investigation against Soyer was submitted to the court.

Recalling that Soyer was arrested on July 1, 2025, the lawyers argued that after the decision to release him in the first file, the same allegations were re-investigated with different legal qualifications. In the statement, it was stated that Soyer was arrested again on December 30, 2025, with a "reserve arrest" warrant, and then another arrest warrant was issued within the scope of another investigation separated from the same file.

Lawyers argued that the documents entered into the file since December 30, 2025 revealed Soyer's innocence, but pointed out that no indictment was prepared for months.

“JUST 11 LINES”

Stating that the prosecutor's office submitted the indictment to the court, the lawyers noted that the section of the indictment regarding Soyer consists of only one paragraph and 11 lines.

The statement said, "The indictment submitted to the court today is a clear admission of injustice. There is only one paragraph about Tunç Soyer in the indictment. In this eleven-line paragraph, Tunç Soyer's words to the whole of Izmir 'form cooperatives and live in safe housing' have been evaluated as aiding the alleged embezzlement crime in cooperatives."

REQUEST FOR EVACUATION

Arguing that the accusations in the indictment do not reflect the material reality and are against the law, the lawyers demanded that Soyer's detention be ended.

The statement said, "It is obvious that the allegations in this indictment, like the previous allegations, do not reflect the material reality and are against the law. Therefore, we demand that this unjust detention be put to an end."
