S.S. in Izmir Within the scope of the investigation carried out against Business People Örnekköy Housing Building Cooperative, the indictment prepared by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 19 people, including former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, former CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, was accepted by the İzmir 6th High Criminal Court. In the indictment, names including Soyer and Kaya were accused of "aiding the crime of embezzlement", and names including Aslanoğlu were accused of "embezzlement".
Murat Aydın, İsmet Köymen and Defne Soyer, lawyers of detained former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, made a written statement after the indictment was accepted by the court.
The following statements were included in the statement titled "We are also expecting an indictment from the third file in which the arrest of the backup was made":
"Not even an assumption indicating criminal intent has been put forward about Tunç Soyer since the first day. It was even accepted by the prosecution that he did not gain a single penny of unjust gain, proven by MASAK data. Tunç Soyer was released on January 5, 2026 in the case filed due to the cooperative model in urban transformation. However, only 5 days before his release, in order to prevent his release, he was re-arrested from the file that was separated from the first case because it was related to the internal functioning of cooperatives, that is, a reserve arrest was made. Then, another cooperative that was separated from this file was arrested." He was also arrested as a backup for a file related to his internal functioning.
In the second file, that is, in the file where a reserve arrest was made, an indictment was finally drawn up. Although there was only one paragraph about Soyer in 523 pages of the indictment and he was not charged with any crime, the Court decided to continue his detention. The indictment of the backup file has still not been written. In other words, even if Soyer is released from the newly opened file, he will not be released due to this file. However, for Tunç Soyer, the content of all three files is the same, everything he said in the police interrogation on July 1, 2025 is still valid. All files have been open for 2 years. There is no legal or logical explanation for the fact that he was released from one of them, an indictment was written in another, and even an indictment was not written in another. That's why we expect an indictment to be issued in the third detention file, the "backup of the backup".
It is not possible to consider supporting cooperatives as a crime. There is no rational, logical or legal explanation to say that Soyer aided the alleged embezzlement in cooperatives by supporting cooperatives. Despite this, efforts are being made to continue Tunç Soyer's detention by prolonging the judicial processes and creating files from within the files, and he and his loved ones are being oppressed. "We demand that this unlawful process end and Tunç Soyer be released immediately."
STATEMENT FROM TUNÇ SOYER
Tunç Soyer, who made a written statement on his social media account after the indictment was accepted by the court, said:
"We have been waiting for an indictment to be written for months. Yesterday, that indictment was finally accepted. In the 500-odd-page indictment, my name is mentioned in only an 11-line paragraph, and only the speeches I made at the opening ceremony are used as an excuse for the crime. However, the reports received, HTS records, witness statements, MASAK data prove again and again that there is no crime. Therefore, we were hoping that the relevant court would decide on immediate release, but it did not happen (it was said to continue detention) and 2 months later, 18 The hearing date was given to Kasım. The words "evidence expected to be collected and the nature of the crime" were used in the decision. It means that there was evidence that had not been collected for 4 years in the investigation for 2022, and it will be collected in the next two months. With this decision, the court lifted the judicial controls and international travel bans of the defendants accused of 'embezzlement'. In other words, while there are no obstacles to the freedom of those whose crime qualification is 'embezzlement'. However, my family, my friends, the streets of Izmir, the corridors of the courthouse, and the public conscience know that I am innocent.
Dear friends, sometimes judicial institutions pretend that their decisions comply with the legislation and the law and contradict the law and the law. He crowned his effective speech with the beautiful poem of the late Sezai Karakoç, and the whole world saw the universality of Sezai Karakoç's poetry. The first hearing of the case will be held on November 18 at Aliağa Penitentiary Institutions Hearing Hall.
