In his statement, Minister Gürlek stated that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they determinedly continue the fight against street gangs that threaten the peace of the nation, the security of cities and the future of children.
Stating that the new academic year has started and that "Streets are Safe" operations have been carried out within this scope, Gürlek continued as follows:
"Today, on the morning of September 14, when millions of our children returned to schools for the new academic year, we launched 'Streets are Safe' operations across the country against street gangs and new generation criminal organizations that set their eyes on the future of our children. Within the scope of the investigations carried out by our 78 Chief Public Prosecutors' Offices, under the coordination of our General Directorate of Criminal Affairs, judicial proceedings were carried out against 2 thousand 447 suspects, and 148 simultaneous operations were carried out with our gendarmerie and police departments. From drugs to looting, arms trade “Our fight against these criminal structures, which operate in a wide range of crimes from blackmail, money laundering to illegal betting, is not limited to catching criminals.”
Minister Gürlek said, "Our goal is to eliminate the human resources, financing, networks, logistics facilities and crime production capacity of criminal organizations. To destroy the structures that try to influence our youth through social media and portray crime as an element of power and status." he said.
Gürlek said, "Our streets will not be left to criminal organizations. Our children and young people will not be the human resources of criminal organizations. The power and profit gained from crime will not be protected. We will continue our fight with determination, together with our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, police and gendarmerie organizations and all relevant institutions." He made a statement.
OPERATION AGAINST NEW GENERATION CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS: DETENTION DECISION ON 1008 SUSPECTS
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that detention orders were issued for 1008 suspects in operations against "new generation criminal organizations" in 48 provinces.
It was stated that, upon the instructions of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mustafa Çiftçi, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security KOM Presidency and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a joint study was carried out by the National Intelligence Organization, EGM Intelligence Directorate and the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes against the new generation organized crime organizations and the structuring of these organizations on social media and communication platforms.
In this context, the statement stated that detention orders were given for 1008 suspects in operations against new generation criminal organizations in 48 provinces, and the following statements were made:
"During the studies carried out, it was determined that the suspects shared posts aimed at procuring hitmen or engaging in hitmanship through groups created on communication platforms, shared posts praising crime and criminals, threats, insults and organization propaganda on their social media accounts, tried to announce their organizational activities on social media, carried the hostility and competition between criminal organizations to social media channels, tried to create the perception that criminal activities were normal and tried to recruit new members to the organizations by using social media."

Regarding the operations, Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi said, "We will not leave the square to those who hide behind the screens and try to poison our youth, encourage crime, and turn threats and violence into a show of power. Just as we do not give respite to criminal gangs on the streets, we will also crush the 'new generation criminal networks' wherever they step in the virtual world. No matter which account, which platform, which dark structure they hide behind, our state will have its hands and breath on them. Our heroic police officers and all those who contributed to the operation will be on them." I congratulate our units."
