Ugandan Chief of General Staff Kainerugaba calls for Turkish citizens to leave the country

Ugandan Chief of General Staff General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who had previously received public reaction with his strange statements towards Türkiye, demanded that all Turkish citizens in the country leave Uganda immediately, in a statement he made on his official social media accounts.

According to local news portal Citizen Digital, Kainerugaba stated that he had severed all ties with Turks in Uganda and argued that Turkish citizens should pack their belongings and leave the country as soon as possible.

Kainerugaba also announced that a mass protest would be held in front of the Turkish Embassy in the capital Kampala on September 18.

As part of the demonstration led by MP Twala Fadhil, a march and a sit-in in front of the embassy are planned in the capital.

Kainerugaba, who assigned the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) movement he heads to organize the demonstration, threatened, "We will catch every Turkish agent who says anything different."

In his statement in April, Keinerugaba criticized Türkiye's military activities in Somalia and demanded that Türkiye pay 1 billion dollars to Uganda in return for these steps and give him the most beautiful woman in the country as his wife.

Despite all these posts, the Ugandan administration did not deport Turkish citizens or break diplomatic ties with Ankara.
