The Ukrainian drone attack on Russia overnight into October 6 has emerged as one of the largest of the year so far, with 868 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intercepted and destroyed over Russian regions and the Sea of Azov, according to TASS calculations based on Defense Ministry data.
Last night, drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, Tula and Moscow regions, as well as Crimea and the Sea of Azov.
The largest Ukrainian drone attack of the year so far was recorded on September 20, the final day of Russia’s parliamentary elections, when a total of 1,951 UAVs and eight projectiles launched by the Ukrainian army were intercepted and destroyed.
Prior to that, the August 16 attack was among the largest, with 822 drones downed over Russian regions.
