The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO), which reported on Wednesday about attacks on Russian gas installations in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, emphasize that there has never been such a long-range attack on the territory of the Russian Federation before.

"For the first time! A record-breaking strike since the beginning of the war: Special Operations Forces reached key Russian plants 3,000 kilometers away," SSO announced on social media.

"On September 9, long-range units of the Special Operations Forces successfully attacked two large plants of the gas condensate industry: plants in Novy Urengoy and Purovsk. Both plants are located in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, one of the key oil and gas production regions in Russia," the statement emphasized, noting that until today this area was considered completely safe by the Russians.

Fire Point, a manufacturer of drones for the Ukrainian army, announced that unmanned aerial vehicles with a declared range of over 3,300 km were used in the attack.

The successful Ukrainian attack was confirmed by the Russians themselves - according to Dmitry Artyukhov, governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, the plant in Novy Urengoy was hit. Artem Zoga, the plenipotentiary of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Urals Federal District (which includes the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District), stated that Ukrainian armed forces attacked the Arctic part of the Urals Federal District for the first time. He confirmed that a fire had broken out in one of the "fuel and energy" facilities and the company's staff had been "evacuated in advance."
