Catalan hospitals plan measures to counteract the impact of the 'Not one minute more' campaign on surgical waiting lists

Hospitals in Catalonia are designing organizational measures to mitigate the possible increase in surgical waiting lists derived from the 'Not one minute more' campaign, through which specialists have given up overtime in demand of work improvements. Metges de Catalunya attributes to this initiative an 8% increase in reduced surgical activity in July and an increase of 4,576 people on the waiting list, while the Department of Health maintains that the period analyzed is too short to conclude and points out that the extra activity corresponds mainly to low complexity interventions.

The massive use of Ozempic and GLP-1 drugs generates warnings about inequality and social risks

The widespread use of GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic has transcended the medical field and has become a global social and economic phenomenon, but experts warn that the commercial interests of the pharmaceutical, food and wellness industries threaten its positive impact, generate inequality in access and promote unsustainable lifestyles, according to an editorial in Science and statements by endocrinologist Cristóbal Morales.
