US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran as Trump Vows Revenge Amid Escalating Regional Conflict

The US has launched strikes on Iran for a 10th consecutive night as both sides vie for control of the Strait of Hormuz. US President Trump has promised revenge over the deaths of fallen American troops.

The agency cited a senior military source as confirming that the interceptions took place without any casualties or damage caused on the ground.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said their forces targeted a complex housing US forces, confirming the attack.

Jordan hosts US forces and aircraft and has therefore been a frequent target of Iranian attacks since a preliminary deal between Washington and Tehran collapsed some two weeks ago.

Lebanese forces had started deploying in the southern town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh after Israel withdrew troops from the area, news agencies have reported, citing military sources.

The AFP news agency reported that Lebanese soldiers "have begun deploying to the village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh" in the Nabatieh region, after Israel occupied parts of southern Lebanon during their war with Hezbollah.

The move is in line with a plan sponsored by Washington that sees Lebanon's military assume greater responsibility for security and work to remove Iran-backed Hezbollah's weapons from the area.

According to the US-sponsored framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, reached late June, Lebanon's armed forces will "gradually assume full and effective security responsibility in pilot zones, which will serve as the mechanism for phased and verified redeployments of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and the LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces)."

Iran's state media have reported that Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claimed to have destroyed infrastructure belonging to US company Amazon in Bahrain.

IRNA reported that "multiple missiles" were launched against "Amazon's central data infrastructure in Bahrain, completely destroying it."

There has been no official confirmation from Bahrain and the claims cannot be independently verified.

The US military said it completed another round of strikes against Iran, targeting military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems.

In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation was aimed at degrading Iran's ability to continueattacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime trade routes.

CENTCOM said commercial shipping through the waterway remained ongoing despite the conflict. According to the US military, its forces have helped facilitate the transit of approximately 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil through the strait since early May.

The US military also said its forces remain positioned to respond to what it described as Iranian aggression against civilian shipping, pledging to hold Tehran accountable for attacks on vessels navigating the strategic waterway.

Tanker hit in Strait of Hormuz, says UK Maritime Trade Operations agency

A tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman on Tuesday, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency.

The agency said it had received reports that a vessel was struck about 8 nautical miles (15 kilometers) northeast of Limah, Oman.

The incident comes a day after another ship caught fire following an attack in the same area, adding to concerns over maritime security in the strategic waterway.

The strike occurred as tensions between Iran and the United States continued to escalate. Tehran has repeatedly insisted that ships use a route along Iran's coastline through the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that only the route designated by Iranian authorities is safe.

Meanwhile, the US military carried out a 10th consecutive night of strikes on targets in Iran, while Iranian media reported explosions near Qeshm Island and the southern city of Bandar Abbas.

Iran’s military said it launched surface-to-surface missiles at Camp Arifjan, a US military base in Kuwait, in the early hours of Tuesday. According to state news agency IRNA, the strike targeted HIMARS missile systems operated by US forces at the base.

Iranian military public relations officials, quoted by IRNA said that "the army's ground forces targeted the HIMARS missile systems of the US terrorist army stationed at the Arifjan base in Kuwait with surface-to-surface missiles."

Iranian officials described HIMARS as "a mobile missile system with the ability to move quickly against ground targets" and said that targeting the system "causes damage to the offensive and defensive layers and reduces the enemy's missile power in aggressive crimes."

The announcement came as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the conflict had developed into a "full-scale war," indicating a significant escalation in hostilities.

Camp Arifjan, located south of Kuwait City, hosts personnel from several branches of the US military, including the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. The base serves as a key hub for US military operations in the region.

Saudi Arabia has condemned the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen after they announced a naval blockade in the southern part of the Red Sea.

With Iran and the US restricting ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia had relied on its Red Sea ports to export oil.

Overnight, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed the "strongest condemnation of the allegations made by the so-called military spokesperson of the Houthi terrorist militia, who accused the kingdom of besieging the brotherly Yemeni people and claimed the imposition of a maritime blockade on the Kingdom."

The Houthis and Saudi Arabia have traded strikes in recent days after an Iranian plane attempted to land in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

The US has launched strikes on Iran for the 10th night in a row.

"The strikes are designed to further degrade Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," the US military's Central Command said on social media.

Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that air defenses were activated near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on the southern coast. The complex has been hit by previous waves of US strikes.

Strikes between the US and Iran have escalated in an attempt to control the Strait of Hormuz.

On Friday, an Iranian strike on an air base in Jordan killed two US service members and left a third unaccounted for. Another US soldier was reported dead in Iraq on Saturday due to a "controlled detonation" of a downed Iranian drone.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that whenever Iran killed an American soldier, they would "pay for that killing many times over."
