Terrible accident in Van. 9 people lost their lives

A traffic accident occurred as a result of the collision between a truck and a minibus on the Van-Özalp highway.

At the 49th kilometer of the highway, at around 19.30, a truck and a passenger minibus with Iranian plates collided on the road that was slippery due to heavy rain. While the minibus turned into scrap due to the violence of the collision, many 112 Emergency Health, AFAD, fire brigade, police and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notice of those who saw the accident.

THE DEATH PEOPLE WERE IRANIAN NATIONALITY

In the first investigation of the teams arriving at the scene, it was determined that a total of 9 people, 5 women and 4 men, lost their lives in the accident.

It was learned that 9 of those who lost their lives in the accident were Iranian nationals.

5 people, 3 women and 2 men, who were injured in the accident, were taken to the hospital after first aid at the scene.

STATEMENT FROM MINISTER FARMER

Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi, in his post about the accident on his social media platform, stated the following:

"According to the initial findings, 9 people died and 5 people were injured in the traffic accident that occurred in Özalp district of Van. After the accident, AFAD, gendarmerie, police, 112 Emergency Health, UMKE and fire brigade teams were quickly dispatched to the scene.

We are following the process closely together with our relevant institutions. May God have mercy on those who passed away, I offer patience and condolences to their grieving families and relatives, and I wish a speedy recovery to our injured. May God protect our country and our beloved nation from all kinds of accidents and disasters."
