In Venice, the first Actv vaporettos equipped with internal video surveillance are already operational and ready to sail. The new systems, installed on motorboats, vaporettos and foranes, were presented this morning at the construction site of the public transport company in Tronchetto, in the presence of the mayor Simone Venturini and the prefect Darco Pellos. The intervention is part of the Protocol for the promotion of local public transport safety in the Metropolitan City of Venice.

"The joint work between the Prefecture, the AVM, the Municipality, the unions and the other city law enforcement agencies is making it possible to progressively strengthen the control and security network in various areas of the city", declared Venturini. "The objective is to continue on this path, progressively broadening the scope of attention which already involves piers, terminals and points characterized by a strong influx of people. By 2027 - he concluded - all land vehicles will also be equipped with cameras, for a total of over four thousand electronic eyes".

In the coming months, video surveillance systems will be installed on approximately 20 naval units. In 2027, we will then proceed, through a tender, to award the supply and installation of the equipment, with the aim of completing the entire fleet by 2028, for a total of 1,300 cameras.

A project developed by the AVM group, in agreement with the Municipality of Venice, which has allocated 2.2 million euros for the purpose.

The system installed on water vehicles provides two different image management modes. The cameras that film the boarding, disembarking and transit areas of passengers record continuously on an extractable support. The images of the bow and stern, however, are transmitted exclusively live to the bridge, to support the manoeuvres.

The orientation of the cameras follows precise technical schemes, differentiated for motorboats, motorboats and foranes.
