Venice, the search for the 26-year-old missing after the collision between a small boat and a water taxi resumed

The search resumed this morning for Gabriella Querino, the 26-year-old of Brazilian origins missing in the Venice lagoon since, at dawn yesterday, the small boat on which she was probably traveling with her husband Sean Michieli collided with a taxi in the Tessera canal. The details of the people involved, made known by Gazzettino and Nuova Venezia, have been confirmed by other sources.

The 25-year-old is still hospitalized at the Angelo hospital in Mestre, where he underwent surgery for the head trauma suffered in the accident. His condition is very serious. There is no trace of the young woman, but investigators assume that she was on the boat with him at the time of the impact. Not only because of the testimonies of Michieli's relatives, who explained how the two were inseparable, but also because, after the sunken boat was fished out last night, some elements were found on board the vehicle that seem to confirm this hypothesis. Carabinieri and firefighters are working on site, making divers available as well as providing for helicopter overflights and the possible use of watercraft in support.

The driver of the taxi was subjected to the ritual checks in case of accidents, because the dynamics of the crash will also have to be reconstructed. He passed on his passion for this work to his wife, who often accompanies him on outings. Michieli's family was struck by a similar tragedy in 2007, when the then 19-year-old Endrius, Michieli's uncle, died in a boating accident at Fondamente Nuove.
