Traffic accidents in Saxony-Anhalt in the first half of 2026: decrease in deaths and injuries

According to initial preliminary information from the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office, 36 people died in traffic accidents on the state's roads in the first half of 2026. That was eight people fewer than in the same period last year. According to the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office, the number of seriously injured people fell from 823 to 650 - a decrease of 173 people. The number of slightly injured people also fell by 573 to 3,505 people.

Overall, the road traffic accident statistics, which are based on reports from the Saxony-Anhalt police, recorded 31,310 road traffic accidents nationwide in the first six months of 2026, according to the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office. Of these, 3,277 accidents resulted in personal injury. According to the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office, a total of 4,191 people had accidents.

The decline in fatalities is mainly due to car occupants (-5 people), motorcyclists with official license plates (-2), drivers of mopeds (-1) and pedestrians (-1). However, according to the Saxony-Anhalt State Statistical Office, the number of cyclists killed remained unchanged at 7 people.
