Virat Kohli hits 55th ODI century in India's chase against West Indies

NEW DELHI: The Thiruvananthapuram crowd got exactly what it had been waiting for. Virat Kohli put on another special show, smashing his 55th ODI century as India chased West Indies' 295/7. Kohli reached his hundred in just 74 balls and made the chase look comfortable with a superb attacking knock.

Kohli takes charge

West Indies had put up a challenging 295/7 in their 50 overs, but Kohli quickly took control of the chase. He found the boundaries regularly and put the West Indies bowlers under pressure. He looked in complete control and kept India's chase moving at a fast pace. The big moment came when Gudakesh Motie bowled a flighted delivery. Kohli stepped down the pitch and hit it over long-on for six to complete his century. He immediately took off his helmet and raised his bat as the crowd erupted.

55th ODI century for Kohli

The century was Kohli's 55th in ODI cricket. It was also his 86th international hundred. His international centuries include 30 in Tests, 55 in ODIs and one in T20Is. Kohli has now scored 55 ODI hundreds, extending his lead among active players in the format.

Joint-most ODI centuries against a team

Kohli's century also put him alongside Sachin Tendulkar in another interesting record. He now has 10 ODI centuries against the West Indies. That is the joint-most by a batter against a single team in ODI cricket. Kohli also has 10 ODI centuries against Sri Lanka. The list includes:
